Why this archive?
Hundreds of villages have emptied as families moved to the plains for work. With every closed house, something quiet is lost — a word, a recipe, a song for the paddy fields, the name of a local deity.
This archive gathers it in one place, freely, for anyone — especially the children of the Pahadi diaspora who want to know where they come from.
